Hello!

Welcome to the Just Mathematics Collective newsletter.  This is our 
(roughly) monthly round-up of news about our campaigns and activities, 
suggestions for how you can help, and reading we've found useful 
recently.

Signal boosts:

An update from our Math Minus Militarism friends re: JMM 2025:

If you are going to the JMM in Seattle this winter, don't despair! Math 
Minus Militarism will be there as well and prepared with many ideas and 
opportunities to both:

  	* disrupt the "business as usual" of the AMS and their friends at the 
NSA and
  	* to build community with like-minded mathematicians who are tired of 
how deep militarism runs in our academic community.

For the past few JMMs, we have focused on one aspect of militarism in 
mathematics: the violence of the NSA, and the fact that the AMS lets 
them recruit at the JMM. This year, we want to think more broadly about 
how militarism shows up in our conferences. What does it mean that the 
conference theme is "AI and Math," in the midst of an AI-powered 
genocide in Gaza? As the US government continues to fund and fuel 
genocide, anti-militarism movements are growing in solidarity with 
Palestinian resistance. What is the role of mathematicians in this 
struggle? We must do more to create a #MathMinusMilitarism together.

We all can relate to the dread that comes before attending the JMM, 
knowing you will see NSA logos and workers everywhere, uncritically 
accepted into mathematics communities. Start thinking now about what you 
can do to ensure that no NSA logo remains uncovered and no NSA worker is 
willing to return to the JMM. And trust that we are planning right 
alongside you. Stay tuned for more info!
